What Motivated You To Begin Training?
It always starts out being the “small guy” in school.I was always physically active and heavily into sports, but lacked any size whatsoever.
If you have transformed yourself what do you attribute to arriving at your starting point:
I know I have transformed myself a lot. After I was done my time in school, reality hit. It was time to get a job (or two) and never made any time for sports or activities. I became lazy. Money was more important to me than my health.
Tell us a little about your training philosophy:
A training philosophy is shaped from your own observations, experiences, and studies. You can’t say “that’s wrong” because unless you have the exact same experiences, you’re coming from a different reference point. Which is a better weapon, a knife or a missile? At three feet, it’s a knife. At one mile it’s a missile. Different reference points, right? My Philosophy: I guess my philosophy is still the Bruce Lee line: “Absorb what is useful; reject what is useless.” I’m sure you’re all sick of hearing that.
Tell us a little bit about your diet philosophy:
The food that you eat will be the number one obstacle when trying to achieve your fitness goals. Whether you’re a Paleo,Vegan, Slim Fast, Low Carb, High Protein, Low Fat Diet fan, consistency is the hardest thing and will be your biggest challenge. Honestly, I stick to the basics: Go to the supermarket after the gym. You’ll feel motivated to keep up with all the hard work you just put in by buying the best options for your body.Plan and prep your meals. Protein veg and grains Small meals throughout the day and no left overs. Take Your Time -Enjoy your food to avoid eating faster then your mind can register it being full. It takes the body and mind about 20-30minutes to acknowledge you’re satisfied. Drinks-try to stick to 0 calories beverages.
Tell us about some of your short and long term goals:
Short term goal is to increase my cardio and endurance.Long term..well..work up the courage to hit the stage one day.
Who do you look to for motivation and why?
Who? The Internet, ha ha. Jason Greene from Team Green Physiques out of Toronto. Tim Love AG sponsored athlete. Mich Roussin of MaxEnergy/Team Michine.
What are some of the most difficult obstacles that you have had to overcome?
Right femur shattered in a boating accident at the peak of my transformation, lost 25 pounds and a few inches. Took years to get back on track. And we all have our personal struggles–mine was depression, but managed to bounce back from that by getting back into the gym.
Tell us some of your pet peeves surrounding healthy life and the gym:
“Eat this, not that”. Always coming from the hypocrites! Please, don’t tell me how to live my life unless you are wanting to be my coach!
What is the number one piece of advice that you would give someone that looks to you for inspiration?
Don’t ever settle. Those who say it can’t be done, it can. That you’re not good enough? Prove them wrong.
Please share anything else you would like to say:
This is a journey of my transformation. I live for the gym, it’s my passion and hobby. Thanks Kyle!!
